Do I need antibiotics to treat a UTI?

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are usually caused by bacteria and are treated with antibiotics. Once antibiotic treatment begins, symptoms often improve quickly. However, it is important to complete the full course of antibiotics as prescribed, even if symptoms go away before the medication is finished to ensure the infection is fully cleared.

Can the pharmacist prescribe treatment?

Yes. If appropriate, the pharmacist will prescribe antibiotic treatment during your visit, so you can start feeling better sooner.

What is the cost of a birth control consultation?

Birth control consultations are available for a low-cost cash fee of $39. This includes a brief medical history questionnaire, consultation with our specially trained pharmacist, and a blood pressure check to ensure you are eligible for self-administered hormonal contraception (birth control). This fee is not covered by insurance. Prescription costs are separate and may be covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance provider for coverage details. Insurance can be used to cover the cost of up to a 12-month supply of birth control.

What type of birth control options are available?

Macey’s pharmacies are permitted to provide any self-administered hormonal contraceptive after a consultation with our qualified pharmacists. Self-administered hormonal contraceptives include: birth control tablets, patch and vaginal ring. This service does not include IUD or injectable birth control, please visit your doctor for additional options available.

What does the assessment entail?

The assessment includes a series of questions about your medical history, current contraceptive use, smoking history, and pregnancy screening, as well as a blood pressure check.

How old do I have to be?

Due to state regulations, women must be 18 and older to use this service.

Do I need insurance?

No, insurance is not required to take advantage of this service. The birth control consultation is a cash fee. However, if you have insurance and qualify for a self-administered hormonal contraception prescription, your insurance can be used to cover the cost of the birth control prescription. The out-of-pocket consultation fee and any prescription copayment must be paid at the time of service.
